OFFICERS - Brecknock YFC has chosen its new officers to lead the federation into the new Millennium. They are: Federation president, Councillor Rosemarie Harris, from Libanus; deputy president, David Morgan, from Llandefalle; chairman, Sharon Havard from Boughrood, Llyswen; vice-chairman, Anne Marie Davies, from Llangammarch Wells; chairman of the Dot.com and competition committees, Rhys Davies, from Bwlch; vice-chairman of the Dot-com committee, Philip John Lewis, from Sennybridge; and vice-chairman of competition, Catherine Davies, from Llangammarch Wells.
HIGH SCHOOL - Brecon High School is lucky enough to have two of its year 10 pupils win parts in the teen series 'Hollyoaks'. The girls, Michele Dorise and Kelly Clifford, beat thousands of other hopefuls in a nationwide search and are now waiting for a call-up to the show.
GUIDES - Brecon and District Guides helped the Blue Peter New Life Appeal by making £402.50 at the bring-and-buy sale. The appeal was also helped by the Talybont and Mynydd Du Brownies and Rainbows, who raised £143, by holding a stall in the market.
DISABLED HELP - Brecon and District Disabled Club is now £514,462 better off, thanks to a grant from the National Lottery. The money will be used to extend the transport service to include Sennybridge, continue a training project for volunteers and provide for volunteers, and also provide an information service for elderly and disabled people who live in remote locations.
