Hereford Swimming Club's junior team, with 176 points, finished third behind Stratford (196) and Leamington Spa (182) in the second round of the Nuneaton Junior League.
This was a slightly disappointing result as, after looking at the results of the first round, the coach was hoping for a top-two finish.
Hereford winners were Charlotte Bufton, 11-and-under 50 backstroke and 10-years 25 backstroke; Matthew Ashcroft, 12-and-under 50 freestyle; Patrick Meggitt, 12-and-under 50 butterfly; and the girls 10-years freestyle relay team of Charlotte Bufton, Charlotte Tully, Ellie McHarg and Claire Griffiths.
There were good second places for Charlotte Bufton, 10-years 25 freestyle; Matthew Ashcroft, 12-and-under 50 backstroke; Ellie McHarg, 10-years 25 breaststroke; Charlotte Tully, 11-and-under 50 butterfly and 10-years 25 butterfly; and David Wright, 10-years 25 backstroke.
Relay seconds were achieved by the girls' 10-years medley team, the same girls who won the freestyle, the 11-year-old medley team of Charlotte Bufton, Charlotte Tully, Ellie McHarg and Stephanie Mills, and girls' 12-years freestyle team of Stephanie Tully, Victoria Frith, Sarah Lane and Emma Rogers.
The girls' and mixed cannon teams also gained seconds.
The Hereford swimmers now need a first or second in the third round this month to qualify for the final in September.
