THE first major flower festival in Bromyard for seven years will open in St Peter's Church this Saturday (May 27), at 10am.
The Bromyard Floral Club has organised the event at the invitation of the vicar of St Peter's, the Rev. Walter Gould.
Festival organiser, Jean Gwalchmai, said: "It will be our first since 1993 and will take the form of a Millennium celebration."
The theme 'Bright the Vision' is a quote from the Old Testament and expresses hope for the future.
Mrs Gwalchmai said: "The vision is up by the high altar, which will be a blaze of colours."
Visitors entering the church will be confronted by greenery during the three-day display.
As they process down the aisle to the altar, more and more colours will be evident.
On Saturday, as part of the celebrations, the Lay Clerks of Hereford Cathedral will be in concert in the church, with a programme ranging from church music to more popular pieces.
There will be a preview of the Flower Festival this evening (Friday), from 7.30pm, with tickets costing £5 each.
Proceeds will go to St Peter's Church funds and the air ambulance appeal.
The Flower Festival will run from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and Bank Holiday Monday and from 11.30am to 6pm on Sunday.
