THE tiny village of Wormelow is preparing itself for a mass invasion on June 24, writes JON LAND.
Hundreds of people from all over the country will be flocking to Herefordshire for the grand opening of a museum in honour of wartime secret agent Violette Szabo.
And museum founder Rosemary Rigby is planning the big day like a military operation to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Representatives from the county branch of the Royal British Legion will join members of the RAF, Royal Navy, Burma Star Association and the Parachute Regiment in a parade, before actress Virginia McKenna carries out the official opening.
The mayors and mayoresses of Hereford, Lambeth and Ross-on-Wye, along with dignitaries from France, are all expected on the day.
Those planning to attend should arrive at 1.30pm in order to ensure everyone is in place before proceedings begin.
Miss Rigby, meanwhile, is appealing for help in supplying enough tables and chairs for the guests.
Assistance is also required in providing refreshments, with everything from coffee and tea to biscuits, sandwiches and cakes needed on the day.
Interested readers should contact Rosemary Rigby on 01981 540477.
