AN eight-mile run may be a big challenge but there will be plenty of incentive for the competitors to reach the finishing line - not least the money being raised for a new school at Burghill.
The runners will set off from Burghill Community Primary School at 3pm on June 4 to a band of bagpipes to be serenaded for their first mile by a choir.
Deep in the Crocodile Woods Pedro Brown's percussion band will spur them on, while an accordion ensemble mark the six-mile spot at Tillington Common.
Prizes include crocodile-shaped trophies crafted by Phil Jackson, of Woolhope, and all those reaching the finishing line receive a 'goody bag'.
The first man and woman to complete the route will get trophies, paid for by Burghill Parish Council.
The orchard by the school will be the venue for a fun run for all the family, with a special Millennium medal for those crossing the finishing line.
And competitors will be able to rest their weary feet after the racing at a party being held at the Bell Inn, Tillington, at 5pm. Attractions include local musicians, a pig roast, stalls and games.
