TROUBLE is brewing over the expansion intentions of a popular Hereford pub.
Two neighbours of The Spread Eagle, King Street, say its proposed new patio sitting area and outdoor lighting scheme will pose problems for their privacy.
The pair, from adjacent Gwynne Street, wrote to Herefordshire Council protesting that the plan encourages 'more outdoor activity' causing 'greater annoyance' from 'noise, rowdiness and drunken behaviour'. Objections are also raised to the added 'intrusion' of new lights.
But the council's environmental health officer says the service has not received any noise or nuisance complaints relating to The Spread Eagle. He proposed a condition to regulate the external use of music and lights. Hereford Conservation Area Advisory Committee approves of the extension as an 'improvement'.
The applicants have been invited to comment on the concerns raised by neighbours.
