YOUNG Herefordshire rider Alice Hurley claimed a share of victory in the novice class at the annual Welsh Festival of Dressage at Usk and could be in line for a British call-up.
Twelve-year-old Alice, from Hoarwithy, and her pony Jack Frost II took joint first position in the open event, which included adult riders, with 65.4 per cent.
She beat 27 other competitors to the equal top spot and also picked up third place in the preliminary class with 65 per cent to qualify for the regional championships.
Serena Pincus, from Bartestree, was also triumphant at Usk and won the five-year-olds' section on her horse Sheepcote Diorissama.
This Saturday Hurley travels to Trowbridge for the West Wilts Dressage where she will be attempting to make the British team, who face Ireland at Blarney Castle this summer.
Selection would make her one of the youngest dressage riders ever to compete for Britain.
On Sunday she takes part in the Cotswold Dressage Festival at Shipton-under-Wychwood in Oxfordshire.
