AFTER last week's emphatic victory over Canon Frome, Ledbury came back down to earth with a narrow defeat to a Leominster inspired by Dale Withers.

LEDBURY 2ND XI v

LEOMINSTER 2ND XI

Leominster won a crucial toss and asked Ledbury to bat, against the new ball and with the pitch misbehaving, Ledbury's batsmen struggled with only Griffiths, with a chancy 20, getting on top of the bowling.

However with Pint playing sensibly and well supported by Phillips and Watkins, Ledbury fought back to 101-4 and looked set for a fighting total. But Withers (5-26) returned to the attack to mop up Ledbury's tail, with only Clueit hitting a savage 24 offering any resistance.

Leominster's reply was a laboured affair and Phillips was unlucky not to get the initial breakthrough, this went to Watkins (2-22) who gave a fine exhibition of swing bowling to remove Chadd and danger man Noel Withers brilliantly caught by Griffin.

But with too many extras being given away Leominster were always on target.

The impressive Tager (2-20) gave Ledbury hope with two wickets in one over. However Dale Withers (64no) finally hit the winning runs in the 48th over.

This week they travel to Shobdon.
