FUN DAY - Gorsley and Kilcot enjoyed the recent Millennium Fun Day at Gorsley Village Hall and a large number of people from Gorsley, as well as from other nearby villages, attended the afternoon event. There were many stalls, as well as an antiques quiz run by Daphne Toner and a balloon race with Doug Swallow in charge. There was also an exhibition of art work by the art club and an exhibition of photographs. Thanks were extended to Gorsley Baptist Church for the loan of the public address system, Newent Rotary Cub for the coconut shy and the Scar Hall for the loan of the skittle alley. The first aid cover was provided by Daphne Toner, of the St John's Ambulance Association, while a Millennium gift was there for all the Gorsley and Kilcot resident children under 16 years. The evening saw a long programme of forest tales, songs, fun, and entertainment with Dick Brice, and was concluded with a display of fireworks.
WOMEN'S INSTITUTE - Members of Kilcot and Gorsley WI will be meeting on May 23 in the village hall at 7.30pm. On this occasion, the resolutions for the year 2000 will be discussed and will be followed by social time.
