GARNONS, the reigning Flint & Cook Marches League champions, made a convincing start to their defence in Division 1 with a 130-run triumph at home to Canon Frome.
Number five Rob Pritchard, who shared a partnership of 138 with Andy Brace, smashed seven sixes and seven fours and carried his bat for 97 to help the home side to 245-5.
Brace ended unbeaten on 31, backed up by opener Dave Brown, who made 54, and, despite 49 from Chris Styles, four wickets for Stuart Griffiths reduced Canon Frome to 115.
Leominster 2nd's 16-year-old Dale Withers was the star of Division 3 with 6-26 and 65 not out in his side's five-wicket win at home to Ledbury 2nd.
Withers' wickets reduced Ledbury to 129 all out and his unbeaten half-century guided Leominster home.
In Division 1 of the Hereford Times Hereford and District League, 146 from Duncan Morgan gave Kington 3rd a comfortable 158-run win over visiting Woolhope.
Kington amassed 264-8 and then bowled out their hapless opponents for 106.
Herefordians' Ben Mason featured heavily with the bat and the ball in their eight-wicket victory in Division 2 at Whitecross.
Mason's 5-15 left the home side in tatters at 45 all out, before his 29 not out saw Herefordians past the winning post.
