Glorious May weather and a good turnout made Ledbury Civic Walk one of the most successful ever.
Wet weather prevented many people from supporting last year's event. But this year, around 80 walkers gathered at Lower Mitchell Farm, Worcester Road, last sunday (May 7) for the six-mile sponsored walk to the obelisk in Eastnor Deer Park and back.
Among them was the president of Ledbury Walkers' Club, Emilio Ponti, who raised more than £750 for the Cottage Hospital, Ledbury Day Centre and Ledbury CVS - the most raised by a single walker on the day.
Mike Woodbridge, Herefordshire Council's footpaths officer for Ledbury, said: "Everyone got on really well and we raised more than £2,000 for local charities, which is the most important thing of all.
Charities to benefit including Ledbury Day Centre (£400); Ledbury Swifts, (£200) the Cottage Hospital (£250). Ledbury in Bloom (£370), LADS (£136) and the Samaritans (£100).
