ORGANISERS of Ledbury Poetry Festival 2000 are flying the flag for the event by unfurling a row of banners.
The 14 banners in High Street and the Homend each contain a single word, making up a complete poem when read together.
The poem, which has 17 syllables in the style of the classical Japanese haiku, was created by children at Ledbury Primary School and the residents of Leadon Bank Home for the Elderly.
What it actually says was being kept a closely-guarded secret until the unfurling of the banners today (Friday).
The banners themselves were designed by artist Jennifer Grierson, who visited John Masefield High School on Tuesday (May 9) to show some of them to the pupils.
Poetry festival director Richard Surman said: "This project has been an excellent way to involve different sections of the community.
