Fun runners, teams and serious athletes are being sought for the Ledbury Chase, a new sponsored half-marathon taking place on Sunday, September 17.
The aim is to attract as many competitors as possible to the 13-mile event, to raise money for various local charities.
The half-marathon is being organised by Ledbury Rugby Club. The club is also the base for registration and will act as the start and finishing line for the event.
Race secretary Terry Folly said: "Ledbury has the civic walk. Now it has the Ledbury Chase. We're putting this on for the benefit of the community. We want to see it angled at community use.
"People have four months to train - and they'll need it!"
Ledbury Rugby Club players will be among those taking part, running for their chosen charities which are still to be identified.
Other runners, who must be over 17, can get sponsorship for whichever charities they choose.
Mr Folly said: "It's a delightful and testing rural course including footpaths, tracks and minor roads. It's varied, interesting and undulating with only one notable climb, at Marcle Hill."
The rugby club will offer use of its facilities, including parking, showers and refreshments to the runners.
For the younger runners, aged between 10 or 12 and 17, a less demanding "mini-marathon" is being planned.
Ledbury Rugby Club spokesperson Jill Matthew said: "The aim is to attract a cross-section of all ages."
Entry forms are available now. For further details, ring 01531 636294.
