Ledbury Swifts treated parents and friends to a truly wonderful day out, when they played in the Under 13's Boss Cup final at Edgar Street against Hinton FC on Sunday.
LEDBURY SWIFTS 1, HINTON FC 2
It was an excellent achievement for the lads and their Managers to reach this final, ad the spectators were treated to some fine football on the day.
The Swifts dominated the first half and Hinton's goal came very much against the run of play. Swifts did well to keep their heads up and continued to pressure the Hinton goal. In the dying seconds of the first half, Ledbury won a corner and Matthew Fortnum placed a superb inswinging ball which beat the Hinton defence and made the scores level.
Hinton appeared to come out the stronger team after half time and began to have more of the play, but Ledbury held strong. Rodney Hathaway had an outstanding game at the heart of the Ledbury defence, but was ably assisted by David Crowe and Nathan Mullins.
The tension mounted and it was with only ten minutes remaining that Hinton managed to secure what was to be the winning goal.
The Swifts were represented by Thomas Beard, Nathan Mullins, Rodney Hathaway (Capt), David Crowe, Spencer Rouse, Patrick Locke, Matthew Fortnum, Martin Loveridge, Marc Wildig, Luke Taylor, Adam Willis, Ashley Nicholson, Jason Watson and Dan Morgan.
