Ledbury Swifts started cautiously in this important top-of-the-table Mercian Elgar Junior League clash.
LEDBURY SWIFTS U16 5, WORCESTER CITY 2
After 20 minutes Ledbury settled down and a corner was conceded by Worcester after a spell of Ledbury pressure, this led to the opening goal when Neil Gardiner scored directly from the kick.
This gave Ledbury a lift and following good work by Lewis Skyers down the right, Gardiner crossed for James Dean to head in to put Swifts 2-0 up.
Ledbury then took charge and scored three more goals before half-time from corners and free kicks. Nick Stockley, who was voted Swifts player of the season on Friday night, scored one and James Dean completed a hat-trick .
Leading 5-0, Ledbury were not so committed at the start of the second half and allowed Worcester to hit back with two early goals before the defence of Duncan Williams, Gavin Locke, Richard Morgan and Ashley Stephens got back on top and Ledbury finished well in command.
Man of the match was Neil Gardiner.
