PLANS for a new health care centre in Kington are on view in the town.
They can be seen in the Credit Union offices and on Sunday evening and will be available for inspection at Lady Hawkins School immediately before a public meeting at 7pm.
A Gloucester-based company, Blanchworth Care has acquired a site for the centre in Victoria Road.
The new building will replace the Cottage Hospital and the GP surgery and provide accommodation for complementary social care services. It is a joint venture between Herefordshire Health Authority, Herefordshire Council social services and Kington GPs who are discussing final details with Blanchworth Care.
The private company has been holding talks with staff from Kington Hospital who will be able to transfer to the new centre.
It is hoped that contracts between the parties can be signed in July, work on the building start in August with an opening date in Autumn 2001.
At the meeting on Sunday evening, representatives of all the parties involved will be available to answer questions from the public.
