Hereford Hospital's fund-raising supremo Jenny Dereham had a call to the Official Receiver's office in Gloucester.
But she was not in trouble, the Official Receiver, Andy Nash wanted to hand her a cheque for £718, for the hospital's medical equipment appeal fund.
With seven others, he had cycled 35 miles from Hereford to Gloucester and raised £2,155.
Proceeds shared
It was to mark the occasion of his 50th birthday and the 10th anniversary of the Insolvency Service becoming an Executive Agency of the Department of Trade and Industry.
The proceeds of the ride were shared with hospitals in Gloucester and Wiltshire and Mrs Dereham, chairman of the Herefordshire £850,000 appeal fund, said she was delighted to receive the contribution.
Other riders in the cycling team were Rob Clarke, Jo Melhado, Sue Macleod, Michelle Howe, Mark Pleasance, Bill Burch and Geoff Wason. All wore fancy dress.
