BOWLS - A Sellack team of four travelled to Redditch to play in the regional finals England trials. With club skipper, John Morris, continuing convalescence, it was a changed side that pitted its skills against other teams from the West Midlands and South West. The Sellack rinks team consisted of Jean Morris, Karen Skyrme, Nigel Skyrme and the day's skipper was Ivor Skyrme. The Sellack team's brand of safety and defensive play frustrated its opponents for long spells, but was not allowed to score in enough quantity on its own winning ends. The Shropshire team that eventually beat the Sellack bowlers did so by firing woods off the playing surface rather than attempting to go for score shots. Several England players were playing in the Redditch Arrow Valley Tournament.
PRESENTATION EVENING - Herefordshire Association for Short Mat Bowlers held its presentation evening at Ross Bowling Club. Several trophies and cups were presented to winners and runners-up of competitions held throughout the winter season. Ross Bowls Club won a large share of the trophies and Sellack's teenage members, Karen and Nigel Skyrme, collected winners and runners-up cups, respectively, for their efforts in the county under 18s competition.
