Westfields 0 Kington 1

KINGTON completed a Banks's Brewery West Midlands League Premier Division double over their struggling Hereford neighbours who were left ruing several missed chances, including a penalty, which should have given them at least a share of the points on Monday.

With two clubs being relegated, a win in their last ever game at Rotherwas against Dudley Town could provide Westfields with a Premier Division lifeline. They have two league games to play and hold a three-point advantage over bottom clubs Star and Walsall Wood. Walsall have a game in hand but a significantly inferior goal difference.

Both sides opened up quietly and the early play was confined to midfield. Kington benefited from a needlessly conceded free-kick and Robbie Gore whipped over a cross for Scott Jackson to head home at the far post.

Westfields hit back and, after Kevin Gwilliam was denied by a splendid save from Dave Alden, they should have levelled from the spot. Keith Holmans was adjudged to have held Derek Craddock but Mark Hibbard, a former Kington player, blasted the penalty wide.

After the break Westfields defended well to snuff out the visitors' dangerous attacks but they again wasted a great chance to get back on terms when Dave Woolliscroft broke through, only to lob the ball wide as Alden closed him down.

With time running out Hibbard had an opportunity to atone for his penalty miss when a through ball bounced wickedly to deceive Alden. It broke to the Westfields player on the edge of the six yard box but he got in a tangle and miscued his shot.

Tividale 2 Westfields 2

Westfields produced a superb second-half display to recover from a two-goal deficit.

Tividale took a first-half lead when Westfields keeper Jon Pugh could only parry a low drive from Wayne Aston into the path of striker Curtis Barnes, who calmly tucked away the chance.

The home side went further ahead just after the break when Luke Reynolds picked himself up to fire in a penalty after being brought down by Adam Godwin.

The visitors surged forward and forced their way back into the game when Mark Hibbard converted a penalty after Dave Woolliscroft was dragged to the ground.

They kept up the pressure and, after Darryl Addis and Kevin Gwilliam had gone close, deservedly equalised when Woolliscroft raced in at the far post to head home a cross from Addis.
