EWYAS Harold recovered from a midweek defeat against Fownhope in the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division to go back to the top with a 3-1 home victory over Westfields on Saturday.

Westfields took a 10th- minute through Steve Higgins, but Derek Howells equalised midway through the first half and Harold began to shade proceedings after the break.

They took the lead when Tommy Herbert broke free and provided a cross for Mel Langford to head in and it was Langford who later secured victory with a driven shot from close range.

Fownhope fought back to win 5-2 after Stan Jones and Steve Radziejowski had forged an early two-goal margin for Harold in the midweek match.

Midweek results had seen Woofferton temporarily take pole position with 1-0 win over Wellington Rangers before Harold reasserted themselves.

Ross Town came away with a 2-1 win at Civil Service after conceding a first-minute penalty when Chris Murphy failed to clear and then pulled down a striker. Dean Gosling scored from the spot.

Luke Gosling was unlucky not to add another goal for Civil Service when his 20-yard shot beat the keeper but hit the bar.

Town missed a penalty 10 minutes into the second half when Adam Bridges fired wide after Martin Murphy had been felled.

But they then put together a prolonged period of pressure and, from the last of a series of corners, Andy Trotman headed in the equaliser from six yards.

The visitors grabbed the winner with 15 minutes left when Gary Brain fired in a great drive from 20 yards.

Town could have had more but Trotman and Chris Murphy both squandered opportunities.

At the foot of the table Lads Club picked up only their fifth point of the season with a 1-1 draw at home to Weston.

The bar denied Shane Bruton early on before he took Weston ahead with a shot from the edge of the area midway through the first half.

But Lads Club equalised 10 minutes before the break when Michael Ewins beat Weston keeper Phil Aubrey to the ball from a Mark Probert free-kick.

The home side put in a much improved second-half performance but, despite creating chances, could not find a winner.
