VODAFONE can site a mast and antennas in a county village, in spite of neighbours' health fears.

Planning councillors have approved an application for a 69-foot lattice tower and radio equipment housing at Bodenham.

Felton Parish Council had said that eight households wanted written assurance that the equipment would not harm them, in the light of media coverage of the effects of radiation.

Council officers said local authorities had been advised there was no public safety issue in respect of such proposals as that for New House Farm.

It was felt the mast would not be 'visually intrusive' owing to the undulating landscape and the hedgerows and trees.

Vodafone has been told that the mast and other equipment would have to be removed from the site within six months of it not being in use.
