THE colour of one of Weston's ciders matched the award it scooped in an international competition.

'Old Rosie' came back to its Much Marcle headquarters from the Finnish Beer and Cider Festival boasting a gold medal.

It beat off major competitors from Sweden, Finland and France to take the top accolade.

H Weston and Son's director of export sales, Brian Lewis, received the award.

'Old Rosie', named after Weston's 1921 Aveling and Porter Steam Roller, is a very strong traditional scrumpy made from locally-grown cider apples and fermented and matured in old oak vats.

Weston's latest victory follows its gold award for the second year running for its Marcle Millennium Cider at the International Beer and Cider Competition held in London.
