THE Ready, Steady, Win Sporting Achievements for Youth project has handed out the largest series of grants in its six-year history.

The project, founded by the Rotary Club of Ross-on-Wye, has awarded a total of £3,974 to 16 young athletes and the figure takes overall donations to over £50,000 to 83 young athletes.

The latest recipients are: 11-year-old Margaret Williams (Whitchurch RC School, judo), 13-year-old Harry Solven (John Masefield School, windsurfing), 14-year-old Kieran Powis (Weobley High School, football), 15-year-olds Jamie Warwick (John Kyrle High School, golf), Ryan Bufton (Leominster Minster College, football) and Benjamin Marshall (Bishop's School, dinghy sailing), 16-year-olds Oliver Partridge (Bishop's School, rugby) and Ian Perridge (Aylestone High School, kayak), 17-year-old Carl Reeks (John Masefield High School, karate), 18-year-old Helen Ellison (Wycliffe College, rowing), 19-year-old Matthew Faucher (Hereford, wheelchair tennis) and 27-year-old kayak coach Lisel Walker(Hereford).
