FROMES put in their best Sterling Classic League performance of the season against a table-topping Talbot Head side previously unbeaten.

FROMES HILL 5, TALBOT HEAD 3

In a game that Fromes dominated they initially found themselves 0-2 down by half time, goals by Simon Griffiths (penalty) and Matt Barry giving Talbot the edge.

The second half saw the introduction of captain Scott Bruton, on the bench due to being only half fit, but his introduction was the turning point of the game. His first involvement was to take a free kick, which he whipped into the Talbot box, Shaun Taylor flicked on and Yaz Ward-Davies volleyed home. Bruton flighted another free kick into the box 10 minutes later and Dave Eaton drilled the ball into the net.

Eaton then grabbed two more quick goals and his hat trick to put Fromes 4-2 up. Jim Howard then sealed the victory when he grabbed the fifth with a crisp low drive. Talbot grabbed a consolation goal scored by Mark Smith five minutes from time.

Man of the Match was Dave Eaton for his cool finishing, also worthy of mention were Shaun Taylor who hassled and harried all game; and 16 year old keeper Matt Howard, being watched by several league clubs, pulling off some stunning saves.

As an indifferent season draws to a close for Fromes, heir two best performances were against the two teams battling for the league title, this win and the unlucky defeat 5-4 against The Bull.
