Hereford had a dismal Christmas as Swansea City and Hartlepool United both completed doubles over them.
The biggest league crowd of the season, 4,202, which included 1,514 Swansea supporters, turned up at Edgar Street to see City equal a club record of four successive away league wins with a 1-0 victory. It was a fourth consecutive home defeat for Hereford, however. David Penny netted the winner with a precise 15-yard drive in the 24th minute.
The nearest Hereford came to equalising was late in the game when Freestone tipped Dean Smith's 30-yarder over the bar.
On Saturday Smith netted his ninth goal of the season when Hereford were pipped 2-1 at Hartlepool.
Joe Allon shot the Pool into a fourth-minute lead but Mika Kottila missed three great chances to equalise in the first half.
Kottila helped make the equaliser, however, when his header from Stoker's free-kick was stopped on the line in the 46th minute and Smith forced home the loose ball. But in the 73rd minute Steve Howard snatched the home team's winner.
United midfielder Keith Downing, who has been out of action with a back injury, will turn out in one of the club's forthcoming reserve games. How he fares will probably decide whether he continues in the sport.
Turner will be speaking to Wrexham manager Brian Flynn this week to see whether Jonathan Cross's loan to United can be extended for another month.
