IT had to happen eventually a goalless draw for Hereford in the Nationwide League Third Division.
It is almost a year since the Bulls previously figured in a scoreless league match against Scarborough at Edgar Street on February 24 last year. The point United picked up last night pushed them one place up the table into 20th position and stretched their undefeated run to six matches. In dreadful, rain-sodden conditions the Bulls played their full part in an entertaining game.
The home side enjoyed the bulk of possession but it was Hereford who created the best scoring opportunities. In the first minute Adrian Foster hit the post and then Kottila missed with a header. In the second half, United director of football Graham Turner introduced John Williams into the action and from an excellent through ball from Rob Warner Williams failed to beat Gray who got down well to save. Trevor Wood produced some excellent goal keeping. He dealt well with a series of crosses into his box and in the first half saved three times as Dale defender Alan Johnson got his head to corners.
His best work of the evening, though, saw him produce a brilliant reflex save from a Chackenay header in the 51st minute.
Hereford: Wood, Norton, Fishlock, Smith, Matthewson, Beeston, Hargreaves, Warner, Foster, Kottila (Williams 67 min), Cook, Subs not used: Brough. Pitman.
