A DISABLED Hereford man says his life has become more stressful after a "relaxation container" was placed just yards from his front door.
Chris Tipping, who suffers from post polio syndrome, claims the 24ft-long blue cabin has not had the desired effect on his health since it was placed outside his Belmont Square property last month.
The 51 year old said he originally agreed to Herefordshire Housing's request to put a portable cabin outside his home to give his neighbours a place to relax while builders carried out maintenance work on the housing association homes.
But when the 9ft-high container arrived, he was shocked to discover the sheer size of the unit and says he now feels like a prisoner in his own home.
"It is communal ground outside my place, so I said it would be fine to put something for the community there," he said.
"But that thing is a monstrosity and I cannot see a dicky bird from my window now."
Mr Tipping also criticised the cost of hiring the unit, adding it was only used by the builders.
However, Helen Greenway, from Herefordshire Housing, said the unit was being used frequently and was popular with residents in the area.
"The unit was intended as a kind of respite place where people could go and have a cup of tea, sit down and get away from the work being done in their homes.
"It is also the place where they can meet with their liaison officer.
"All the wardens have said they like it and we have only received one complaint."
She added that the blue container was expected to remain in Belmont Square for another month.
