Bill Wiggin, MP for Leominster, has been elected by MPs and Peers to the chairmanship of the all-party Parliamentary Cider Group, taking over from Paul Keetch.
"I am delighted," said Mr Wiggin. "Herefordshire's domination of this group continues with founder Paul Keetch elected as honorary president.
"With orchards and cider-making being so predominant in Leominster constituency, and my own personal interest in cider that stretches back many years, I am delighted to have the opportunity to promote the cider industry in this way.
"As chairman I look forward to working to raise the profile of cider further - and helping to inform and educate people about the hugely important role it plays in Britain, especially in rural areas such as ours."
