SIXTEEN captains were present for Leominster Captains' Vase and the course was in fine condition on a perfect day.
Brendan O'Brien won the Vase with a return of 36 stableford points, closely followed by Dennis Mills, 34, and Ken Watson, 33.
Dave Pugh presided over the following dinner and it was joked that it was unsure who had the longest drive - Ray Cooke, who came from the Isle of Wight, or John Morris, who travelled from Cornwall.

A countback was needed to decide a three-way tie in the Seniors' Colwall Cup.

The seniors team gained three friendly wins, beating Bransford 7-0 and Raglan Park 6-1 at home and Forest of Dean 4-3 away.
n Visiting Worcestershire Businessmen's Society invited Kington captain Ken Lewis to take part in their annual competition at Bradnor Hill and he nearly scooped the major prize with 38 points but had to concede to Ray Gerkin on countback.
Lewis then led his team to a narrow win over Pearl Lake by 367 points to 362.
Alan Williams produced another fine performance in the low-handicap section of the Lewis Cup, which was won by Owen Morgan on countback with 81-18-63.
William Frost won the Waugh Cup for 20-28 handicappers with a splendid nett 61.

The seniors team won 4 -2 at Brecon GC.
n Eight boys from Kingstone High School Society raised £770 for the Macmillan Cancer Relief charity by taking part at Brampton in the nationwide Longest Day challenge.
The boys had to complete 36 holes in a day and most of them went on to 54 holes. Those taking part were Richard Manning, James Johnson, Matt Jones, James King, John Fleming, James Guyatt, Luke Williams and Jack Williams.
