UNDER captain Rosie Farr, Ross Tennis Centre Ladies' A team are enjoying one of their best seasons in the Hereford & Worcester Summer League and, after two more wins, are well placed to contest the promotion spot in Division 2.

At the Manor Park Club in Malvern - and playing on a grass surface - there were wins for Ellie Vicary/Ann Fontbin 6-2 6-3, Jane Pepperell/Margaret Phillips 6-1 6-2, and Sarah Drake/Heather Peachey 7-5 6-1.

While all three Ross pairings lost to the home club's number one pair, because Sarah and Heather took them to three sets the Ross team were able to claim the deciding point to win 4-3.

Another challenging away match at Worcester against their B team produced an outstanding performance and a 5-1 win for Ross.

Ann Fontbin/Ellie Vicary won both matches, as did Sarah Drake/Woofie Hay and, with one win for Rosie Farr/Jane Pepperell, this enabled the Ross team to travel home with a convincing victory.

There was no such success for the Men's A team when they entertained Manor Park A team.

Only Chris Friend/Josh Gilmour 6-3 3-6 6-3 were able to influence the Ross scoresheet and, with Alan/Neil Meek and Steve Hicks/Jamie Farr coming off second best in both their matches, Ross lost 5-1.
