The Silverstone Tyres BTRDA rally championship returned to the famous Welsh forests around the host town of Llandovery during last Saturday's Quinton Stages Rally.
The recent dry weather and last weekend's scorching heat made the forest tracks dry and fast but also very dusty for the hundreds of spectators and the 125-strong field.
Herefordshire crews featured strongly at the top of the leaderboard throughout the day. Andrew Burton and Rob Morgan (Herefordshire MC) came out on top in their Peugeot Cosworth, finishing nine seconds ahead of Julian Reynolds and Ieuan Thomas (Pembrokeshire MC) in their Ford Focus World Rally Car.
It was another good day for Roger Chilman Jnr (Hereford-shire) and Andrew Sankey.
As well as taking the final podium position, they also gained maximum BTRDA championship points in their Mitsubishi Evo 6. This puts Chilman into second position in the 10-event series and very much in contention to win one of Britain's most coveted rally championships.
Theo Bengry and Les Forsbrook (Herefordshire) made it three Herefordshire crews in the top four by guiding their Ford Focus WRC into fourth spot. The result puts Bengry in sixth position in the championship, still in with a chance of lifting the title.
Another Herefordshire driver, George Thomas, kept the lead in the 1400 championship when he and stand-in co-driver Andy Bull finished second in class.
