Ledbury swimmers concluded a hectic term with some excellent swims at the Hereford Junior Open Meet on Sunday.
David Middleton and Patty Holloway were rewarded for some great racing, winning the trophies for Top Boy and Top Girl in the 9/10 years' age group, with team-mate Thomas Stokes taking the same honour in the 11/12 years.
Twenty-five swimmers participated on the day, swimming a mixture of strokes over 50 or 100m.
Patty Holloway was the winner of the 50 and 100m backstroke and the 100m butterfly. Competing in the same age group and finishing fourth in the overall points, Lucy Stokes was the winner of the 100m individual medley. Alice Quigley, Isabel Massey and Caitlin Clark also competed in this age group, adding to their experience of strong competition, with new best times for Massey.
David Middleton was the winner of the boy's 100m IM and also the 50 and 100m backstroke and freestyle events.
In the same age group, a fast improving Charlie Green was runner-up to David in the 100m breaststroke and with strong swims in backstroke and IM, finished a creditable seventh overall. Daniel Adair, also representing LADASC in this age group, was pleased with new best times in his breaststroke and backstroke.
In the 11/12 years' age category, competition was very fierce with Ledbury challengers, Eloise van Vuren, Emma Fitzpatrick, Alice Parsons, Rose Parsons and Lily Lowe struggling to stay in the top ten places. Highest-placed was Fitzpatrick, who finished third in the 100m breaststroke and fifth in the 50m to take ninth in the overall points. Eloise van Vuren finished well to take 5th place in the 50m freestyle.
In the same age group, Thomas Stokes demonstrated his versatility to win an event in every discipline, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle and the individual medley. Swimming in the same age group, George Bennion finished third overall and James Middleton joint fourth. Sam Parsons, Christopher Tedds, George Parsons, Christopher Leitch and Liam Almond all gained personal best times.
Arron Almond, Susan Pudge, Alison Pudge and Hannah Norman were all swimming in the 13/14 age group. Almond did well to finish third overall and Pudge fifth.
Coach Viv Jones said: "This was a very mixed gala for achievements, many of the swimmers were rather weary following an incredibly busy term and could not match their recent best times. We only swim on a Wednesday in the summer and I am sure the swimmers will benefit from a break and hopefully come back refreshed and ready to embark on a new training regime leading into next year."
