BACK on track Eastnor 1sts recorded a six-wicket win over WCL division one title-chasing Ombersley on Saturday.
EASTNOR v OMBERSLEY
Eastnor, having won the toss, decided to field on what was a very hot day but had little luck in the early part of the game.
Ombersley scored 120 runs before losing their first wicket and a second wicket came a further seven runs later. P Burdon (88) and opening partner C Flowers (67) had little support from the rest of their team as the last eight wickets only scored 25 runs.
The Eastnor bowler Jabran claimed five wickets and Shahid four wickets as Ombersley were bowled out for 200 in 48 overs.
Eastnor, in reply, reached 103 before Adeel, who had been the major scorer in the run chase by reaching his 50 with the score on 70, was finally out for a fine 67.
This brought Dan Baker in but he went for a duck. Arshad soon followed with the score still on 103, this put Eastnor on the back foot until Steve Emery played a fine innings of 42no. With Jabran (37) he built a good stand of 72 runs, before Jabran fell.
Eastnor still required 26 runs for victory but incoming batsman Shahid soon raced to 18no to take Eastnor to a fine victory with three overs to spare.
Ombersley's best bowlers were D Catterall (2-41) and M D'Oliveira (2-60).
Tomorrow (Saturday), the Eastnor 1st XI are away at Droitwich Spa.
