MERRY-makers turned up in their thousands to have a good time at Ross-on-Wye carnival.
The number of floats was up on last year and the quality was also high, said carnival committee chairman Melvin Hodges.
"We had the best procession for a long time and the judges had a tough job picking winners. The number of local people and visitors enjoying the carnival was also higher than in recent years," said Melvin Hodges.
The displays included a large collection of vintage cars and commercial vehicles as well as static steam engines from a bygone age.
Morris dancers provided traditional rural displays and there was also an exhibition of belly dancing for those who like their entertainment more exotic.
Various charities had the chance to raise money from stands in the Caroline Symonds Gardens.
Next year the Ross-on-Wye carnival will be on Saturday, August 5.
