BLUE will be the colour on Friday, September 16, when Hereford supports Barrs Court School's Hydrosense Appeal.

Maylord Shopping Centre and the surrounding area will be the focus for a packed programme of events, including live music from Barrs Court students, street performers and other attractions - all with a blue theme.

Organisers are appealing to retailers and others throughout the city to show their support for the £750,000 appeal by turning their premises blue, whether with streamers and banners or blue-themed window displays.

Many of Hereford's biggest names have signed up, including Lloyds TSB Bank, Marks & Spencer, Sorted Clothing and Andrew Morris Estate Agents.

The Hydrosense Appeal is a charity committed to building a hydrotherapy pool, intimate care facility and an interactive sensory studio at Barrs Court School, Hereford's only secondary school for children with severe and profound learning disabilities.

Once built, the new facility will also be open to members of the public who have a special need for hydrotherapy.

Also being added to the appeal are the proceeds of the annual pre-season match between Pegasus FC and Westfield FC.
