PHOENIX Ladies have come back with the first international silverware from the prestigious Ian Rush International Trophy in Aberystwyth.
With a team comprising players aged from 14 to 17, Phoenix took part in the under-19 section of the tournament against players from Wales, Ireland, the United States and Scotland with the Wales and Ireland sides both containing youth internationals.
After defeats in their opening two games, Phoenix missed out on a draw against the United States thanks to a last-minute goal and this entered the Herefordshire side into the round-robin trophy.
A win against Scotland, 5-2 after being 2-1 down at half-time, and a 0-0 draw, second time around, against the United States was enough to clinch the trophy for Phoenix on goal difference.
Phoenix are now seeking a venue and a sponsor in a bid to enter next season's FA Women's Cup. For details call Dave Panniers on 07970 492301.
