SPORTING SUCCESSES - Three young people, all the grandchildren of Dorothy and Ed Baylis of Cross Ash, have recently had their sporting successes acknowledged. Christopher Tyler, who plays for Monmouth under 18s football team, was voted Player's Player by his team mates. The team was runner-up in the Youth League Division 1. A trophy was presented to the team and another to Chris as Player's Player.

Chris's sister, Alice Tyler, had been selected to play goalkeeper for the South East Wales under 14s hockey team.

Eight year old Dimitri Antypa, another of Dorothy and Ed's grandsons, has also been voted Player's Player by his football team, he plays for Raglan under-eights.

THANK YOU BARBECUE - This was held in the garden behind the village hall, with salads and puddings set out in the conservatory, and a barbecue in the garden. It was well attended, the food was good and after a day of heavy rain the weather perked up and most of the evening was spent outside. During the evening, one of the new committee of Fun Day organisers, popped across to give Kath Jasper a lovely bouquet of flowers in recognition of the many years of hard work she has put in. After all, Skenfrith Fun Day was Kath's idea and it has gone from strength to strength over the years.

Back at the hall, Stuart Penny thanked all his team of helpers for their efforts and hall chairman, Alan Jones, gave a special thank you to Stuart. Then everyone carried on enjoying the evening amongst friends and neighbours.
