Cradley Town 1 Westfields 1

WESTFIELDS kicked off their Midland Alliance programme with a useful away point at Cradley.

But the Hereford side ended up disappointed with their return which could have been much better after dominating for much of the game.

Cradley began well with a fluent passing game but when Westfields found their feet after the first 10 minutes, it was the city side who carved out the best openings.

Carl Morgan went through in a one-on-one situation but fired over the bar while Scott Jackson put a free header wide of the mark from a corner.

Three minutes before the break, however, goalkeeper Jon Pugh fumbled a cross-shot from the left at the feet of Jimmy Turner who opened the scoring for the home side.

But even then Mark Davis had chance to equalise before half-time when he put a header wide.

Westfields continued to press after the break and Jackson again headed wide while Paul Burton failed narrowly with a half-chance.

Then, with five minutes left, Morgan picked out Matt Aubrey with an inch-perfect cross and the substitute headed in to level the scores.

Burton went within an ace of grabbing the winner in the dying seconds but his header was tipped on to the bar by the home goalkeeper.
