Westfields 1 Alvechurch 0
WESTFIELDS notched their first win of the Midland Alliance season thanks to a goal from experienced striker Paul Burton.
Burton struck in the 28th minute, turning smartly in the area to fire under the body of the Alvechurch goalkeeper and exact some revenge for the city side who suffered a double defeat at the hands of their Worcestershire visitors last season.
Mark Davis was unlucky to head against the woodwork in the early stages but Burton should have extended the lead in the second period when put through by Chris King, only to be foiled by an excellent save.
Despite their dominance, Westfields were grateful to their keeper Jon Pugh who pulled off a fine stop to deny Keith Rostill in the latter stages when an equaliser was threatened.
