Newent town councillors oppose plans to change two phone boxes to card only.
Councillors oppose proposals involving payphones at Ross Road and The Scarr, outlined in a British Telecom consultation document.
Demand for payphones is currently under review by the regulator Ofcom, and conversion to card-only may be an alternative to future removal.
n Proposals to convert a for- mer coach house to a dwelling at 29-31 Church Street, Newent, have been backed by Newent Town Council. At a meeting on Monday, August 8, Coun Peter Street said the conversion, with access at the rear, was in keeping with surrounding buildings. Plans to extend houses at 21 The Crofts and Springfield, Anthony's Cross, also raised no objections.
