Ledbury CC seconds' final league game of the season fell victim to the wet weather last Saturday, not that they were too upset as their inactivity ensured that they finished the campaign as Marches League division six champions.
A fantastic season started badly as Ledbury lost their first two games but thereafter embarked on a nine-match unbeaten run that tied up the division.
Ledbury's narrow defeat against their nearest rivals, Kington, two weeks ago, made sure that things were not to be decided until the final round of games.
But in picking up their average points after the cancellation of Saturday's game against Bishops School, it meant that although the league season finished on somewhat of an anti-climax, the celebrations could begin.
Ledbury's success this season has been based on a fantastic team spirit and a quartet of quality seam bowlers who have all, at one stage or another, put in match-winning performances.
The batting has been solid and the team has been well led by skipper Simon Watkins.
To highlight what an achievement this is for the town's second string, this is Ledbury seconds' first trophy of any kind in living memory and richly deserved.
Before the season finishes Ledbury will be going for a league and cup double when they contest the end-of-season division six league cup, their first game tomorrow (Saturday) away against Bishops School.
