Ledbury Swifts were one of nine U9s teams that played in the Hereford Lads Club six-a-side tournament on Widemarsh Common.

The teams were split into two groups for the initial mini-league stage of the competition.

The Swifts quickly realised that they were in for a tough afternoon as the other three members of the group were Greyhound City Sports (who won the league), Pegasus Juniors (who won the Hillman Florist Cup) and Lads Club (who have proved to be tough opposition on more than one occasion).

Undaunted by the task ahead, the Swifts got off to a good start with a 2-0 win against Lads Club. Dan Sewell scored with a fine shot in the first half after some good midfield work by Tyler Broughton and James Charlesworth

In the second half, Kieron Danter launched a long forward pass, the keeper failed to collect the ball under pressure from Jack Pritchard and the ball slipped into the net to give Kieron a spectacular goal.

In the second game, Ledbury played Pegasus Juniors in what proved to be finely balanced game. Jonathon Gooch made some good saves in goal and Callum Green made a positive contribution in midfield. Unfortunately, after holding Pegasus to a 0-0 draw for much of the game, the Swifts failed to clear their lines and Pegasus managed to scramble the ball home for a 1-0 win.

In the final game, Swifts faced Greyhound City Sports. Despite a lot of pressure from Greyhound, the Swifts played exceedingly well with Rob Phillips making some particularly important tackles in defence. The Swifts took the game to Greyhound and almost took the lead but the match ended 0-0.

Although the Swifts played very well and won the first game and secured a very credible draw in the third game, their points tally fell short of that needed to progress into the finals.
