A SIX-month-old Limousin-cross Belgian Blue heifer sold for the record price of £1,290 at Builth Wells.
Shown by the Mills family from Llanerchllwyd, Llanafan, the heifer weighed in at 310kg and after fierce bidding was sold to Bernard Price, of Brynteg, Hay-on-Wye.
Mr Price is renowned in the show cattle world and the heifer is probably destined for the Winter Fair held at Builth Wells in December.
The sale was conducted by auctioneers Brightwells.
