Hereford United will be looking to consolidate their position in the upper reaches of the Nationwide Conference with two important matches over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The Bulls, who currently sit in second place in the table, will entertain Grays Athletic on Saturday afternoon before heading off to Tamworth on Bank Holiday Monday.

United can expect a tough battle with Grays who won the Nationwide Conference South at a canter last season and are currently the division's top scorers.

They drew their previous away game at Burton Albion and followed this up with a 6-1 battering of Gravesend & Northfleet and a draw with York City.

"The reports we have had about Grays are very complimentary," said Here-ford director of football Graham Turner. "We had them watched against Gravesend and again against York and it sounds as if they are a side who like to play football."

Turner's only doubt for the weekend concerns centre-back Darren Blewitt who has been struggling with a foot injury. Blewitt, who is on loan for the season from West Ham and has been on the substitutes' bench for United's first three matches, has had an X-ray on the problem and Turner is hoping he will be fit to take part at the weekend.

Hereford's forwards received a reminder of the competition within the squad when Danny Carey-Bertram scored four times and Graham Evans, twice, as the Bulls' second string hammered Kidderminster Reserves 7-1 on Tuesday evening. Jamie Pitman, recuperating from a shoulder operation, turned out as a centre-back.
