Presteigne 4 Newtown Res 1

NEW manager Carl Chapman's regime at Presteigne got off to a winning start with a conclusive Spar Mid Wales League success.

The border club took the lead after just three minutes when Alex Hunt marked his debut by heading home an Adie Bennett cross but a defensive mistake allowed the visitors back on level terms shortly afterwards.

Hunt went close to restoring the lead before a Neil Lewis pass played in Daniel Rocke to fire home.

And Presteigne extended their lead before the interval when Hunt was well placed to slam in the rebound after Steve Morgan's header from a Tom Ammonds cross came back off the bar.

Rocke seized on to a big goal-kick from keeper Scott Hodgetts to score the fourth and Chris Jones was unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet when he shot against a post in the closing stages.
