Wellington 3 Wolverhampton Casuals 1

TWO goals on his debut from Danny Hill ensured a winning start to Wellington's West Midlands League Premier Division campaign.

But things had not looked quite so promising when a mistake by Pete Wallace let in Michael Webb to open the scoring for Casuals after just 79 seconds.

Wellington were back on terms after 17 minutes, however, when Matt Williams' pass slipped in Lee Fernyhough to score and then former Kington player Hill took over.

The tall striker headed in a cross from Kenny Styles to put the villagers in front after 29 minutes and then repeated the trick from a Tom Herbert cross seven minutes before the break.

Kington Town 3 Wyrley 5

TOP-CLASS finishing by the visitors brought disappointment for new Kington player-boss Adriano Girolami on his competitive debut.

The visitors had six shots on goal during the game, scoring five times and hitting the bar with the other.

After conceding an early goal, Kington hit back to equalise before half-time when Lee Stevens headed in a corner from Leon Cooke.

A deflected free-kick restored Wyrley's lead shortly after the break and the visitors then pressed home their advantage to storm into a 5-1 lead.

Kington rallied towards the close with Liam Jones scoring twice, once from a penalty and the other from a free-kick.

Bromyard Town 1 Heath Hayes 2

DESPITE taking a first-half lead, 10-man Bromyard stuttered to defeat after two late strikes from their Cannock visitors.

Bromyard dominated the opening phase and received their reward on 38 minutes when Chris Allen opened the scoring from Andy Crowther's cross.

But the home side allowed themselves to be pushed back in the remaining minutes of the half and during a Heath Hayes attack, James Banks handled on the goal-line and was sent off.

Although the visitors failed to convert the penalty, they exploited Bromyard's growing tiredness in the closing stages to score twice in as many minutes through Chris Whitehouse and Richard Hewitt.

Great Wyrley 4 Ledbury Town 0

THE new campaign began in a disappointing fashion for Ledbury, who were Hereford-shire's top-ranked club in the league last season.

Promoted Great Wyrley proved far too strong on their Premier Division debut when a hat-trick from Neil Knight, backed up by Mark Holdcroft's strike, comfortably saw off the visitors.

Parkfield 4 Hinton 0

HINTON'S Division 1 programme got off to a disastrous start when Matt Ferriday conceded a penalty within the first two minutes to allow promoted Parkfield to take the lead.

Another error by the unfortunate Ferriday was punished by a second goal after 10 minutes and the home side romped away with two further goals before the interval.

Ross Semple appeared to be brought down in the area but no penalty was given and Simon Gwynne hit the bar with a header on a day when Hinton's luck was right out.

Wolverhampton Development 5 Bromyard Town Res 0

IT was a disappointing start for Bromyard Reserves in Division 2 as, in spite of good displays Kieran Powis, Paul Jones and Neil Berry, the Town side suffered a comprehensive defeat.
