BURGHILL & Tillington coasted to an easy six-wicket win at Crickhowell in the semi-final of the Advantage Business Supplies Marches Knockout Cup and will now meet holders Monmouth in the final.

After bowling the home side out for 107 they knocked the runs off for the loss of four wickets in just 22 overs.

Crickhowell were in deep trouble after a ruthless opening spell between Nick Phelps (4-21) and Mark Preece (3-22) left them reeling at 39-7, a number of the wickets falling to sharp catches. Only Paul Cornock (16) of the early batsmen made any contribution.

Geraint Bowers batted sensibly for a fluent 40 to save his side from total collapse but, with his only support coming from J Jefferies (12), Crickhowell only just managed to pass three figures before being bowled out in the 27th over.

Peter Bailey followed up his two wickets with 30 runs, and shared an opening partnership of 80 with Preece (40) to put Burghill within sight of victory.

They lost two wickets in two balls before Phelps led them home by striking two fours and a six in a quick-fire 21.

The final will take place on September 4 at a venue to be decided.
