THE South Herefordshire Hunt harness racing meeting under BHRC rules at Allensmore was a memorable one for Stuart Rushton, who clocked the first winner of his career when the diminutive Disturbin' powered away from the field in the mile-and-a-quarter Pathfinders event.

And later, his stable companion Peaks Pastime thundered clear in the Intermediate with Chris Heaton.

Dilwyn's Peter Preston was delighted when Talavary Matador, the three-year-old that he owns in partnership with his father, Brian, stuck his head out gamely to take a maiden division.

Despite the lure of Tregaron, Preston has sensibly decided to turn the promising gelding out to strengthen for next year.

The other maiden division was a welcome victory for Mascot and Colin Bevan, who have suffered some unlucky runs of late.

There was drama in the mile-and-a-half race when both Fearless Scoot and Fearless JR were disqualified for being over their handicap mark, and left the brilliant Nite'n'Gale (Julian Price) to battle clear of I Am The Man (Sarah Mould).

But Gladestry owner-trainer Kim Alman gained quick consolation when the impressive Mill Lane scorched past Another Mattie (Gareth Price) in a division of the open mile handicap.

Price retaliated by making all the running in the second division with Mahogany Surprise, repelling all challengers.

The top grade division was another triumph for Richard Owens' Green-wood Beth who pulverised the opposition in superior style to clock the fastest time of the day.

Next fixtures: Tregaron Welsh Classic meeting Thursday 5.30 pm, Friday 2.30 pm, Saturday 2.30 pm, & Amman Valley Monday 2 pm.
