A NUMBER of local cricketers will have a chance to test themselves against top opposition when Herefordshire take on C & G Trophy finalists Warwickshire in a Twenty20 match in aid of Dougie Brown's benefit at Luctonians next Wednesday, starting 5.30pm.

Duncan Platford, who skippers Luctonians' Worcester-shire County League Division 1 side, is called up for the game along with Leominster all-rounder Russell Palmer while Eastnor's Shahid Ahmed is also in the squad.

All three will be making their first appearances in county colours but another clutch of local players who will be taking part have already played at Minor Counties level.

The Brockhampton duo of Henry Langford and Richard Parker were regular selections during the season, while Tom Brierley played in the final four championship matches. The home club's Ed Rollings also featured on a regular basis in the early part of the campaign.

Warwickshire, who are due to contest the C & G final with Hampshire at Lord's on Saturday, have indicated that they will be bringing a strong side.

Nick Knight, the former England Test batsman, is down to make an appearance, as are the beneficiary Brown and Jim Troughton, who both have one-day international caps.
