REIGNING champions Ewyas Harold made a winning start to their Hereford Times Hereford-shire League Premier Division campaign with a 5-3 success against visiting Ledbury Town Reserves.

Matthew Pitt put the villagers ahead in the first period before Ledbury struck back to lead at the interval.

Robbie Gore levelled straight from the kick-off at the start of the second period and Pitt then added three more to give Harold a convincing lead before Dan Herbert reduced arrears from the penalty spot.

Sutton United also got their programme underway successfully thanks to Steve Miles' late strike which gave them a 2-1 victory at Leominster Town.

The villagers took the lead just before the interval when Patrick Hall headed in Stuart New's cross at the near post.

Leominster equalised when Matt Stack was quickest to react to touch Mark Rusling's free-kick over the head of the advancing Scott Garrett.

With three minutes remaining and a draw looking likely, Miles rose at the far post to head home Steve Parker's free-kick and earn the three points.

Woofferton also made a winning start with two early goals setting them on the way to a 2-1 win over Hinton.

Danny Gower tapped in the first goal from close range and Adrian Taylor added the second with a shot which went straight through the goalkeeper's hands.

Hinton found their form after the interval and pulled a goal back through Steve Gosling's header but, in spite of carving out a number of chances, they were unable to break through again.

Weston and Lads Club shared six goals in a thrilling 3-3 draw.

The South Herefordshire side went in front on 14 minutes when Wayne Clarke crossed for Keith Southern to head home and doubled their lead before the break when Mark Parnham nodded home a Tim Jenkins cross.

Lads Club showed their fighting spirit to equalise and then take the lead but Weston grabbed a point three minutes from time when Matt Roberts powered home a free-kick from the edge of the area.
